Discover the natural beauty of Lake Naivasha, a stunning freshwater lake located in Kenya’s scenic Great Rift Valley, about 100 km northwest of Nairobi. Sitting at an altitude of approximately 1,884 meters, Lake Naivasha is one of the highest lakes in the Rift Valley and one of Kenya’s most beautiful freshwater ecosystems.
The lake is famous for its incredible birdlife, hosting over 400 bird species, including the iconic African fish eagle, kingfishers, herons, and cormorants. It is also home to more than 1,500 hippos, often seen resting in the water during the day and grazing along the shoreline at night.
The name Naivasha originates from the Maasai word “Nai’posha,” meaning “rough water,” referring to the sudden storms that can sweep across the lake. Despite having no visible outlet, the lake remains freshwater due to underground seepage and natural filtration through sediments.
This four-day safari offers visitors a relaxing yet adventurous experience with boat safaris, walking safaris on Crescent Island, birdwatching, cultural visits, and excursions to nearby attractions such as Hell’s Gate National Park and Mount Longonot.
